Beyoncé was the major winner of the night, walking away with a total of three trophies – for Best Female, Best Song ("Halo") and Best Video with her ubiquitous instant classic "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)".She also electrified with her upbeat performance of "Sweet Dreams", while her hubby Jay-Z took us all into an "Empire State of Mind" and won the award for Best Urban.
The show opened with an electrifying number from Green Day, who was also the winner for Best Rock, and was followed by Katy Perry’s irreverent mash-up of the five Best Song contenders.
