Illusion – Delusion by Lala for Spring 2015

Your gaze wanders upward to the sky, a tangy fragrance fills the hot air. Just a second ago it was there, tangible, now gone, vanished into nothing. Illusion? A sparkling vision? A mirage?

For her spring & summer 2015 collection the designer Leyla Piedayesh presents visions and flickering desert mirages in an urban context: an encounter between an oriental nomadic lifestyle, sensual femininity and contemporary modernity.

Leyla Piedayesh creates a soft picture of femininity moving between romanticism and adventure. The silhouette is flowing: layer on layer of organic flowing shapes remind of traditional Berber attire. This eclecticism is also presented in the prints: desert romance and graphic illusions mix with 3D effects. The classic kufiya print is distorted, like seen through a mirage.

The collection’s colours include pastel clouds of rose, white and powder blue as well as black nuances. The contrasting colours yellow and green occasionally appear in the accessories.

The material repertoire ranges from denim and leather to cotton and silk, as well as melanges. Wax-coated cotton tweed gives stability and silk-blends bestow an airy lightness to the collection. Rose-coloured velour leather is gentle and flowing, whilst black nappa leather with 3D embossing offers a stark contrast.

The knitwear design consists of open mesh structures and light patterned knits: airy knit creations in cotton, summer cashmere or melange yarns reflect a summer feeling. Jacquards showcase striking prints like the 3D safari.

Considering the details, the collection shows itself from its feminine and cheerful side: irregularities, side slits and romantic elements like lace and leather inserts emphasise the femininity of the wearer. Asymmetrical elements with light flounces are present in the skirts and dresses, whilst filigree embroideries on denim reference the craftsmanship of nomadic tribes.

The cooperation with shoe manufacturer Selve also continues this season and includes a sandal with a dominant loafer sole, T-strap and ankle strap. Smooth leather mules add an elegant touch. The wide heels make a strong appearance and ensure comfort. For the third time running the cosmetic label CATRICE is the official fashion show partner of lala Berlin. All the models will be styled with their products and this season’s use of contrasting colours in the designs is reflected in the make-up looks: a natural sun-kissed complexion contrasting with dominant eyeliner in bright orange. The hairstyles are wild and wet for a fresh, urban and modern feel –perfectly complementing the collection.
