United Colors Of Benetton Spring/Summer 2010
Every song describes moments, emotions and people. In the same way, the United Colors of Benetton collection for summer 2010 also brings together myriad small stories to be discovered, like the tracks on a CD.For women, outerwear remains the absolute key player for the spring, together with shirts which often become dresses. Trousers, available as Bermuda shorts, plays an important role both in women’s and men’s wardrobes.
The whole experience is like a piece of music which is pleasantly unforgettable, just like one of those summer tunes that are part of our holidays.
The main colour? Rhapsody in blue, of course. THE WAY YOU MAKE ME FEEL - The well known garment, the jacket, takes centre stage, with dresses, shirts, sweaters, skirts and trousers as its co-stars. New textiles (on a cotton base) & patterns revive drapery. Reversible fabrics with patterns on one side & plain on the other create a special "double" effect. Denim is understated. Plain and yarn-dyed poplin is used for a wide range of shirts. Cotton chenille and plush viscose create the jersey collection. Sweaters and outerwear are based around the tricot in medium-lightweight cotton yarns.
The waist & shoulders are the focus of silhouette, whilst the trousers are full length.
The colours are white, blue, pale blue and cherry red. REMEMBER THE TIME - Escape to the countryside and rediscover the essence of life. Linen and cotton are used to maximum effect in a variety of textures: wrinkled muslin, fine muslin, jersey, silk blends, voile, poplin and creponne.
The main focus for this look is the dress and shirt accompanied with shorts and mini skirts. Viscose/linen jersey and cotton gauze make it easy to experiment with sheer elements and layering. The knitwear is interpreted with fine and soft yarns such as cotton, viscose and light cashmere. Floral prints are popular on yarn-dyed and open weave fabrics.
Draped over the figure these garment shapes, give a relaxed, soft and floaty look.
White, grape red, blue, beige and grey are the colours of the theme.
LIBERIAN GIRL - A journey to discover ancient traditions, intense colours and evocative scents.
The silky look is interpreted by the cotton and viscose, which are also blended to create an array of fabrics, ranging from creponne to muslin, from jersey to poplin and a ribbon knit used for the tricot.
Drapes and ruffles on dresses with ethnic and floral patterns, jodhpurs, kaftans, rushed tops and sarong effects. Layers of light silk jersey and modal alternatives with waistcoats and mini jumpers in pure linen jersey.
The knitwear emphasises open, large stitches and special shapes are found particularly in the dresses.
The soft fabrics reveal the silhouette of the body. The palette includes white, brown, purple, green, yellow and orange. YOU ROCK MY WORLD - Fans follow music legends on an imaginary tour. Cotton is the unquestioned leader, used for t-shirts printed with graphics which strongly refer to the Eighties. The yarn-dyed shirts take on an ironically romantic look when coordinated with items in lived-in denim. Cotton is also dyed indigo, like the boiler suit with bare shoulders. The looks are a true fit, comfortable and emphasize the figure without softening it too much. Black, grey and blue are the colours proposed for this theme. BLACK & WHITE - Timeless glamour thanks to the colour combination par excellence: black and white for a perfect Marlene Dietrich of the twenty-first century.
Stretch cotton satin, cotton/viscose, stretch poplin, georgette and viscose jersey are the ingredients which create gala evening jackets with several shapes and lengths, slim trousers, shirts rich in elegant details, cocktail dresses and sweaters with soft drapes.
The image is enhanced by items of clothing in which the waistline is the overall fulcrum, set off by black, white and pink.
